Estate Musicale del Garda – Gasparo da Salò
3 July — 28 August
About the Festival
The Garda Musical Summer is a classical music festival that pays homage to Gasparo da Salò, the Brescia-based luthier considered the inventor of the modern violin. Every summer, concerts take place in historic churches, palaces, and gardens along the western shore of Lake Garda. The program features chamber music concerts, solo recitals, orchestral evenings, and performances by young talents from the best European conservatories. String instruments are the absolute protagonists, in tribute to Salò’s lute-making tradition that changed the history of music.
Concert Venues
The concert locations are chosen for their architectural beauty and acoustics: the Cathedral of Salò with its Renaissance frescoes, the Church of Sant’Andrea, the Capuchin convent cloister, and the gardens of Liberty villas along the waterfront. Each concert is an experience that unites music and art.
Additional Activities and Practical Information
The festival includes masterclasses with internationally renowned musicians, lectures on the history of Garda lute-making, and guided tours of the Blue Ribbon Museum. Concerts are accessible with tickets at popular prices, and some events are free. Advance booking is recommended for the most anticipated concerts.
