Malcesine
Malcesine is one of the most scenic villages on Lake Garda, overlooking the Veronese shore of the mid-to-high Lake Garda and clambering between the water and the first slopes of Mount Baldo, with its castle watching over the small harbor and a maze of stone alleyways leading down to the shore. Its history dates back to Roman and medieval times, passes through Scaliger and Venetian rule, and reaches into the nineteenth century, when European travelers and artists began to tell of it as a romantic destination on Lake Garda. Today, the mild climate, long sunny seasons, and the ability to “fly” in minutes from the lake to the top of Baldo by cable car make Malcesine a lively year-round destination, beloved by those seeking lakeside walks, outdoor sports, sailing events, and mountain trails with 360-degree views.
