Verona

Veneto

Verona is a city that enchants at first glance: the Roman Arena, Juliet’s house, and medieval and Renaissance squares make it one of Italy’s most popular destinations. Just 25 km from Lake Garda, Verona is the eastern gateway to the lake and a perfect complement to those visiting the area.

The historic center, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, winds its way around a bend in the Adige River among Roman bridges, Romanesque churches and frescoed palaces. Piazza delle Erbe, with its daily market, and Piazza dei Signori, with the statue of Dante, are the beating heart of the city. The Arena, a 1st-century Roman amphitheater, hosts the famous open-air opera festival every summer.

Verona is also a city of flavors: risotto all’Amarone, boiled meats, pandoro, and the wines of Valpolicella are just a few of the gastronomic excellences to be discovered while strolling through the osterie and restaurants of the center.
