The Veronese Riviera cycle path from Peschiera to Garda is one of the most popular routes on the lake: 18 km completely flat connecting the UNESCO fortress of Peschiera del Garda to the picturesque village of Garda, passing through medieval Lazise and the vineyards of Bardolino.
The Route
The route starts from the UNESCO World Heritage fortified star of Peschiera del Garda, crossing the bridge over the Mincio River and taking the cycle path that runs along the eastern shore of the lake. The first stretch to Lazise alternates between dedicated cycle paths and stretches on minor roads, passing small harbours, hidden beaches and olive groves overlooking the water.
Lazise welcomes with its medieval harbour and Scaliger castle, perfect for an initial stop. From here we continue to Bardolino through the vineyard area, where the famous DOC red wine is produced. The route passes between rows of vines and olive groves, with the lake always visible on the left.
The arrival in Garda is scenic: the elegant lakeside promenade with its palm trees and outdoor cafes invites you to take a regenerating break with a view of the bay and the Rocca, which dominates the town from above.
Recommended stops
Lazise for an ice cream on the harbour, Bardolino for a wine tasting in a wine cellar, and Garda for a lake-view lunch. Along the route there is no shortage of bars, kiosks and drinking fountains. The beaches of Cisano and Lazise are perfect for a dip.
