The sunset on Lake Garda is a daily spectacle that never tires. Here are the 10 best spots to admire it, from the shore to the mountains.
1. Punta San Vigilio – Garda
The most romantic spot on the lake. The peninsula juts out to the west, offering a perfect view of the sun setting behind the Brescian mountains. Access from the beach (fee in summer) or from the park.
2. Thrill Terrace – Tremosine
350 meters above the lake, this terrace suspended in the void offers a dizzying sunset. Make reservations at the bar to secure your spot.
3. Rock of Manerba
The walk to the Rocca (15 minutes from the base) gives a 360-degree view of the lower lake. The sun sets exactly opposite in summer.
4. Scaliger Castle – Torri del Benaco
From the castle walls, the sunset is framed by medieval towers. A living picture.
5. Lakeside of Lazise
The Venetian harbor at sunset is tinged with orange and pink. Choose a table at the harbor bar and enjoy the show.
6. Monte Baldo – Malcesine
On the last ride of the cable car (check schedules) you can watch the sunset from 1,800 meters, with the entire lake below you.
7. Island of San Biagio – Manerba
The small island reachable on foot with shallow water becomes magical at sunset. The water turns golden.
8. Gardone Riviera – Il Vittoriale
The Vittoriale gardens, with the bow of the Puglia ship facing the lake, create a surreal atmosphere at sunset.
9. Salò – Lakeside
Salò’s Art Nouveau promenade looks southwest: the sunset is reflected in the gulf, creating infinite reflections.
10. Sirmione – Jamaica Beach
Sirmione’s wildest beach, at the far end of the peninsula. At sunset the thermal waters create golden vapors. Magical.
