The Bardolino Wine Route is a 35-km cycling route through the moraine hills of the Veronese shore of Lake Garda, in the heart of the Bardolino DOC and Chiaretto wine area. A scenic loop through vineyards, olive groves, villages and wineries where the landscape is enjoyed with the eyes before the glass.

The route
It starts in the centre of Bardolino, a lively lakeside village famous for its wine and the Grape and Wine Festival that attracts thousands of visitors every October. The route climbs up towards the hinterland along secondary roads with little traffic, plunging into the hills where the Corvina vine gives life to Bardolino Rosso and Chiaretto Rosato.
The undulating route passes through small villages such as Affi, Cavaion Veronese and Costermano, each with its own wine cellars and oil mills. The ups and downs are never extreme, but the overall height difference of 300 metres requires a minimum of training – with e-bikes the route becomes a walk.

Food and wine stops
The real pleasure of this route are the wine cellar stops. Dozens of producers along the route offer tastings and direct sales of their wines: Bardolino Classico, Chiaretto, Custoza and Lugana. There are also oil mills where you can taste Garda DOP extra virgin olive oil, produced from the Casaliva and Grignano cultivars that thrive on these hillsides.

Practical advice
Loop route on secondary paved roads. Suitable for intermediate cyclists, accessible to all with e-bikes. The best time is in autumn during the grape harvest, when the vineyards turn yellow and red. Plan at least 2-3 cellar stops. After the tour, Bardolino’s lakeside promenade offers restaurants and ice cream parlours to end the day. Rental bikes are available in Bardolino and Lazise.
