The sunset aperitif overlooking the lake is one of the most beautiful rituals of Garda. Here are the places to enjoy it at its best, from north to south.
Eastern shore
- Corte Olivo – Bardolino: cocktail bar with terrace overlooking the lake. Impeccable spritzes and platters of local cured meats.
- Beach 37 – Lazise: beach kiosk with sunbeds and lounge music. Perfect for sunset.
- Lido Blu – Torri del Benaco: elegant terrace with castle and mountain views.
- Re Lear – Malcesine: historic waterfront bar overlooking the Scaliger Castle. The Negroni is a must.
The north
- Bar al Porto – Riva del Garda: tables right on the harbor promenade. Relaxed atmosphere, affordable prices.
- Surfer’s Grill – Torbole: beach club frequented by surfers. Casual aperitifs with craft beers.
West bank
- Thrill Terrace – Tremosine: the terrace suspended in the void, 350 meters above the lake. Unique experience, must be booked.
- Hotel Laurin – Salò: Art Nouveau terrace overlooking the Gulf of Salò. Designer cocktails and unforgettable sunset.
- Lonato – Desenzano Lido: beach club with DJ sets at sunset on summer weekends.

When to go
The golden hour at Garda is between 6:30 and 8:00 pm in summer (5:00-6:30 pm in spring/autumn). The best sunsets are seen from the eastern shore, which looks westward. Arrive at least 30 minutes early to secure the best table.
