The Garda Trek Low Loop is the most accessible trek in the Garda Trek system: 33 km in 2 stages with a total altitude difference of 1045 metres, a multi-day adventure within the reach of hikers with basic experience. The route explores the low mountains of Upper Garda with constant views of the lake and stops in villages with authentic charm.
The 2 stages
The trek starts from Riva del Garda and runs over the hills and mountains surrounding the upper lake at moderate altitudes, without exceeding 1,000 metres. The two stages have an average height difference of about 500 metres each, which can be covered in 4-5 hours at a leisurely pace.
The route passes through villages such as Pregasina, a scenic natural balcony over the lake, and touches historic paths such as the Ponale and Sentiero del Sole. The variety is remarkable: Mediterranean olive groves, beech forests, panoramic meadows and stone villages alternate in an ever-changing landscape.
Where to sleep
The intermediate stop offers overnight stays in agritourisms and small hotels where Trentino cuisine accompanies the rest. Strangolapreti, canederli and Nosiola wine are the evening reward for the day’s effort.
