The hike to the San Fermo Promontory is a short panoramic walk offering the closest view of Isola del Garda, the largest island on the lake. An easy 3.2 km between olive groves and meadows with a panorama that embraces the island with its neo-Gothic villa, the Gulf of Salò and the mountains of the upper lake.
The route
You start out from the hamlet of San Fermo, in the municipality of San Felice del Benaco, and walk along the promontory that juts out towards the Isola del Garda. The path crosses olive groves and meadows with wild flowers, climbing gently to the main viewpoint where the island appears very close, separated by a few hundred metres of water.
Isola del Garda, with its neo-Gothic-Venetian villa and Italian-style gardens, is a fairy-tale apparition. Owned by the Cavazza family, it can be visited by guided boat tours from various ports along the Brescian Riviera.
