The Via Ferrata Cima Capi is one of the most scenic via ferratas of Garda Trentino: a challenging route that climbs from the lakeshore to the summit at 909 metres, offering breathtaking aerial views of Upper Garda. With 600 metres of altitude difference and exposed technical passages, it is reserved for experienced ferratists.

The route
The start is reached from the Sentiero del Ponale, above Riva del Garda. After an approach section in the forest, the ferrata proper begins: the route runs along the south-west face of Cima Capi, exposed to the sun and with a direct view of the lake below.
Key passages include overhead traverses on compact rock, vertical chimneys and a Tibetan bridge suspended in the void, which is the most exciting moment of the entire ascent. The limestone rock is solid and offers good holds, but the exposure is constant and requires steady nerves.

The panorama
As you climb, Lake Garda opens up beneath your feet in all its magnificence. From Cima Capi the 360-degree panorama embraces the entire upper lake: Riva del Garda, Monte Brione, Torbole, Monte Baldo and, to the north, the chain of the Brenta Dolomites. It is one of the most spectacular natural belvederes of the entire Garda area.

Practical advice
Highly difficult ferrata (K3-K4), not suitable for beginners. Complete via ferrata kit obligatory. Total absence of vertigo essential for the most exposed passages. Do not tackle it in rain, snow or thunderstorms. Early morning departure recommended to avoid the heat on the exposed wall. Period: May-October. Mountain guides available in Riva del Garda and Arco for professional accompaniment. Descent via easier (unequipped) hiking path.
